Erika Colon was born in Venezuela and raised in Japan. After her graduate studies at the Sacred Heart University in Tokyo (Master in Education), she completed her Master’s degree with distinction at the Royal Academy of Music in London in 2009. The same year, she made her debut at the prestigious Wigmore Hall. She has performed with distinguished musicians such as Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Kent Nagano and Joan Baez. Her engagements as a soloist include Mozart Festival in Brussels, Sacred Music Festival with Mozart’s Requiem and the Japan-U.K. 150th Anniversary Concert in London with Handel’s »Messiah«. While continuing her performance activities in Japan and abroad, she is active as the artistic director of White Hand Chorus NIPPON which consists of children with visual, hearing, and other disabilities aiming for social inclusion through music education.
