Magdalena Klein works as a freelance conductor with a wide range of different orchestras and is also musical director of the Hanover Symphony Orchestra.
As a guest conductor, she has performed with orchestras such as the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra, the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra and the Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra Wernigerode. In 2022, she made her international debuts with orchestras in Egypt and Mexico.
From 2019–2023, Magdalena Klein was musical assistant to the Bochum Symphony Orchestra and worked alongside GMDs Steven Sloane and Tung-Chieh Chuang with conductors such as John Storgårds, Anja Bihlmaier, Kazuki Yamada, Giedrė Šlekytė and Pablo Gonzalez.
In the 2023/24 season, she had her debut with orchestras such as the Düsseldorfer and Hofer Symphoniker, worked with Thomas Hengelbrock and the Balthasar Neumann Ensembles and returned to Bochum for several programmes.
Klein completed her master’s degree in orchestral conducting at the International Conducting Academy of the Berlin University of the Arts, where she also founded orchestr.insîéme, which gave numerous concerts under her direction in 2016–2019. She also studied in masterclasses with luminaries such as Riccardo Muti and Paavo Järvi.
