Beethovenfest Bonn is striving for a structural change towards a more sustainable economy and festival organisation. We have initiated a process in 2023 to evaluate climate-damaging emissions in our operations. The Öko Institut e. V. is supporting us in this endeavour as part of the Culture4Climate initiative.
CO₂-Compensation
Climate partnership with Knauber ProKlima
For years, our partner Knauber has supported us in offsetting the CO2 emissions released by our print and online media. The festival artists’ travel to and from the festival is also offset.
In 2023, Knauber ProKlima was supporting the Cambodia Water Purifier climate protection project as part of our climate partnership. Ceramic filter systems for purifying drinking water are installed in Cambodian households. This eliminates the need to boil unclean drinking water in rural regions and reduces fuel consumption. The commitment is certified with the WWF »Gold Standard« and contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals on health, water protection and hygiene, working conditions, climate and species protection.
CO2 footprint evaluation
Since 2023, Beethovenfest has been in the process of internally evaluating its greenhouse gas footprint. We are supported in this by experts from the Öko Institut e. V.
