Martin Kirchharz (born 1984) took over the direction of his first orchestra at the age of 16. In addition to studying musicology at the University of Bonn and music for a secondary school teaching degree with piano and clarinet as his main artistic subjects at the Cologne University of Music and Dance, he attended numerous masterclasses and received private conducting lessons.
In the 2010/2011 winter semester, Martin Kirchharz was entrusted with the founding and direction of the Bonn University International Choir, which he still conducts today. He also conducts various other orchestras in North Rhine-Westphalia, both as principal and guest conductor.
Martin Kirchharz became conductor of the Uniorchester Bonn – Camerata musicale in the winter semester of 2008/2009 at the age of 24. Even before that, he was a permanent tutor for the wind section with the Bonn University Orchestra. The Camerata musicale has developed very favourably under his artistic direction. Thanks to his highly focussed and determined rehearsal work and his creative ideas, Martin Kirchharz has managed to shape the orchestra into the largest student orchestra at the university.
