The Belarusian flutist Maruta Staravoitava performs internationally with a diverse repertoire. An important part of her artistic work is her collaboration with composers, through which she has premiered numerous solo and chamber music works.
A passionate chamber musician, she is a member of the Ensemble Syntax (I), Castel Camerata (CH), Kommas (D) and the Ensemble Experimental of the SWR Experimentalstudio Freiburg. She also plays in various formations, such as Ensemble Contrechamps in Geneva, Ensemble Musikfabrik and Ensemble Garage in Cologne, Vertixe Sonora in Santiago de Compostela, Ensemble Contempoarte in Florence and the Orchestra Santa Cecilia in Rome.
As part of her concert activities, she has performed at various festivals, such as Wien Modern, Warsaw Autumn, Festival Archipel, Lucerne Festival, Davos Festival, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Borealis Festival, Tage der Neuen Musik Graz and the Salzburg Biennale, as well as in the Young Musicians Concert Season at London's Royal Opera House Covent-Garden.
Maruta Staravoitava was born in Minsk. She received her first flute lessons at the National Lyceum of Arts in her home town. She then studied with Mario Caroli at the National Conservatory in Strasbourg, with Felix Renggli at the Hochschule für Musik Basel, and with Marc Hantai at the Scola Cantorum Basiliensis. Her interest in the most diverse forms of artistic expression eventually led her to the Hochschule der Künste in Bern, where she obtained a Masterְ’s degree in »Théâtre Musical« with Françoise Rivalland. During her studies, she was supported by the Nicati de Luze Foundation in Lausanne, received the special prize of the Severino Gazzelloni Foundation in Florence, as well as the unanimous first prize of the UFAM competition in Versailles, the third prize of the »Parnasse 2007« competition in Paris and the second prize of the »Eugen Coca« competition in Chisnau.
