Invitations to festivals, radio recordings and numerous first and second prizes at national and international choir competitions testify to the high quality of the chamber choir.

In 1990, church music director Karin Freist-Wissing took over the direction of the chamber choir, which was founded in 1987. In weekly rehearsals, the singers work on an extensive repertoire ranging from Renaissance and Baroque music, classical oratorio literature to romantic and contemporary a cappella works.
The consistently excellent reviews emphasise not only their intonation accuracy and perfect pronunciation, but also their stage presence.

Openness to new and unheard-of ideas is another hallmark of the Bonn ensemble. This is exemplified by staged performances of Bach’s St Matthew and St John Passion as well as improvisation concerts. Crossover projects and intercultural projects round off the repertoire. In the 2023/24 season, the chamber choir performed Haydn’s »Creation« – combined with scenes from the theatre play »Unsere Welt neu denken« (»Rethinking our world«) (Maja Göpel) by director Simon Solberg.

Vox Bona has received invitations to the Leipzig Bach Festival, the Thuringian Bach Weeks, the Brühl Palace Concerts, the Beethoven Festival in Bonn and the Vienna Festival Weeks. The chamber choir has also been invited to the Leipzig Bach Festival again in 2024, with a production of Bach’s St John Passion as modern music theatre. The chamber choir regularly works with renowned orchestras such as the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, BonnBarock and l’arte del mondo.
