»An admirable musician and pianist – patrician, elegant, sensitive...« (The Boston Globe)
Grown up in the German region of Bergisches Land, Eric Schneider studied piano and mathematics in Cologne. After winning his first competition prizes and appearing as a soloist, he discovered his enthusiasm for lied and chamber music. He subsequently continued his education by studying lied accompaniment with Hartmut Höll. He received groundbreaking impulses from Paul Badura-Skoda, Alfred Brendel and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. He owes special thanks to Elisabeth Schwarzkopf for her style-forming lessons. In the 1990s he completed a course in orchestral conducting with Rolf Reuter in Berlin.
Among his numerous CD releases as a Lied accompanist were »Winterreise« and »Apparition« with soprano Christine Schäfer, »Die Schöne Müllerin« and »Wanderers Nachtlied« with baritone Matthias Goerne, and »Sirènes« and »Behind the Lines 1914–2014« with soprano Anna Prohaska. A solo CD includes works by Leoš Janáček, Ludwig van Beethoven and Robert Schumann.
Eric Schneider lives in Berlin where he teaches lied at the Universität der Künste.
