Frank Heuel, artistic director of the fringe ensemble and theatre director, has realised theatre festivals such as Theaterzwang (2002) and friends (2004), staged at Theater Bonn (2008–2010), where he directed the »Club der Utopisten«, among others, and was part of the artistic direction of the Schaubühne Lindenfels in Leipzig (2012–2014). In 2002, he was nominated as the best young German director in the magazine »Theater heute« and in 2006 was awarded the NRW Sponsorship Prize for the production »Geschichten+«. The world premiere of »Zwei Welten« at Theater Bonn under his direction (stage design: Annika Ley) was invited to the NRW Theatertreffen in 2010.

Frank Heuel has been working in international collaborations for many years, most recently with artists and ensembles in Turkey and West Africa (Burkina Faso, Ghana). Under the label »fringe writers«, he realises collaborative scenarios with authors from Germany, Europe and West Africa.
