Jan Klare has been on the road as a saxophonist, bandleader and composer since the mid-1980s and has not missed out on much. He has played concerts in many countries, performed in dozens of CD/radio/TV productions and collaborated with renowned colleagues. Various prizes attest to the quality of his work.
As the founder of the orchestra The Dorf, he has left his mark in recent years. He taught a masterclass at the New England Conservatory in Boston. Other projects include the football opera »Duell D/NL 74« and the co-founding of the Umland Records label.
Jan Klare has written compositions for new music ensembles and the WDR BigBand, including a piece for two wind orchestras, gospel choir, rock band, church bells and pyrotechnics. He sees his work as ›sociological field research‹ into listening habits.
