Johannes Stankowski is a major figure in the German music world as a songwriter, bandleader, composer and author. The trained sound engineer studied composition, music production and ensemble conducting at the Hamburg School of Music. Together with various musicians, he has since produced numerous albums of music for children, including »Alles wird bunt« (2016) and his latest CD »Flaschenpost« (2023). Stankowski has also performed as part of the Italian pop band Gío.
As a further mainstay, Stankowski trained as a guitar maker. He is involved in Fröbel kindergartens in projects for instrument making and collaborative composing. He is in great demand as a composer and has contributed soundtracks to television and cinema films and for advertising. His 25-year stage career has taken him all over Europe, India and Canada. His residency at the Kölner Philharmonie is regularly sold out. He is also an author of children’s books and presents/performs in the live programme »Bärenbude« on WDR. Since 2019, he has curated the Ebertpänz Festival, an outdoor festival of children’s music on Cologne’s Ebertplatz.
