Martina Styppa was born in Leutkirch in the Allgäu. Even before her music degree studies, she received cello lessons from David Grigorian (Munich). After graduating from high school, she studied violoncello at the conservatories in Würzburg and Detmold with Xenia Jankovic, and baroque cello with Stefan Fuchs at the Musikhochschule Würzburg.
She attended master classes with Bernhard Gmelin, Christoph Richter, Martin Löhr, Marcio Carneiro, and chamber music courses with Eberhard Feltz, the Voces Quartet, the Auryn Quartet and the Heine Quartet.
Today she lives in Würzburg as a freelance musician and music teacher, plays in various ensembles and chamber music formations ranging from early music (Bach by Bike Ensemble/Bonn, La Strada Armonica/Würzburg) to contemporary music (Ensemble Horizonte/Detmold), as well as in the Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt and the Capitol Sinfonie Orchester Offenbach.
