Nils Rottgardt studied cultural work, applied theatre studies and is a trained curative education nurse. Due to a chronic illness, he is considered a person with a disability. 

As a producer and artist, he designs and realises interdisciplinary art and cultural projects on a freelance basis. Since 2015, his work has focussed on the interface between inclusion and culture. One focus of his work is the artistic process »Aesthetics of Access«. Rottgardt advises both artists and cultural actors on the topic of accessibility in the artistic process. He is the director of the inclusive production festival RoboLAB, founded in 2020, and has been the artistic director of Un-Label since 2023.
