Composer Donnacha Dennehy

»I love a kind of intensity. And that intensity, I definitively can hear, has some kind of connection to Rock in some way. Even though I'm never directly referencing it, but I do like a kind of prolonged ecstasy of Rock and EDM. There is some infiltration of that into me.«

Donnacha Dennehy's music attracts through its colourful beauty. The Irish composer has been living in the USA for many years. There he regularly collaborates with New-York-based ensemble Alarm Will Sound. This collaboration brought them together at Beethovenfest 2022: two works of Dennehy were performed by the new music ensemble in Bonn. One of them was a world premier, the orchestral piece »Land of Winter«. Dennehy composed it for Beethovenfest with the support of a Guggenheim scholarship.
