ECHO Klassik rising star, Opus Klassik best young artist – Isata Kanneh-Mason has drawn attention in the last couple of years. At Beethovenfest Bonn 2023 she is to play a matinee recital at the opening week-end: A concert that promises to be a highlight of the festival in Bonn opera house.

It is a story like something out of a musician's fairy tale: A family of seven musically gifted children who play spectacularly well together as an ensemble at a young age, and one by one enter the world of professional concert performance. The first in the series is Isata Kanneh-Mason. From child star, the British pianist has advanced to become a sought-after concert pianist, performing on stages worldwide with orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London or the Los Angeles Philhamonic.

Her recital at Beethovenfest 2023 testifies to her curiosity to unearth other treasures alongside the warhorses of the piano literature. She plays a Haydn sonata next to the well-known »Kinderszenen« by Schumann; an until recently almost unknown sonata by Fanny Mendelssohn next to Frédéric Chopin’s third piano sonata.

With this programme, Isata Kanneh-Mason introduces the series of piano matinees: Every Sunday at 11 a.m., renowned pianists perform.
