Amos Ben-Tal (born in Haifa, 1979) started dancing at the age of thirteen in various schools in Israel and completed his training in 1997 at The National Ballet School in Toronto, Canada. Amos then came to the Netherlands where he danced at Nederlands Dans Theater for nine years. It is also at NDT where he developed his passion for choreography, debuting in 2005 with the work »Track«, which received rave reviews. Amos Ben-Tal uses dance, music, text and image in order to create interdisciplinary performances. He provides a new insight that questions the process of performing.
In 2006 Amos left NDT to dedicate himself full time to his own work. He then created several works for Korzo Productions, among others »Ziggurat« (2007), »We Are Not Humanity« (2008), »The New Work« (2011) and »Kill The Victor« (2012). Amos has also been involved in music from a young age: apart from composing the music for all his choreographies he also fronts the indie-rock band Noblesse. In 2012 Amos co-founded OFFprojects, a collective of four ex-dancers of Nederlands Dans Theater and Batsheva Ensemble who create multi-disciplinary performances, events and installations. Just a couple of years after forming, the group quickly gained recognition for their ›out of the box‹ approach and exceptional performing skills. Their first full evening production »OFFline« (2014) received critical praise and toured all across the Netherlands as well as in France, England, Czech Republic and Germany.
Amos has been supporting Something Machine’s project »THE 2ND EXCESSIVE RUDENESS« with artistic advice during their residency at Seoul Dance Center.
