Anna Drescher studied cultural studies and aesthetic practice at the University of Hildesheim, specialising in theatre, music and philosophy. From 2013–2015 she was a fellow at the Akademie Musiktheater heute. She won the European Opera Directing Prize in 2015 for her concept for »Weiße Rose« (Udo Zimmermann). The realisation at the Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn was awarded »Best Production« at the Armel Opera Festival in 2017 as well as the Götz Friedrich Studio Prize.
Her works include, among others Dea Loher’s »Blaubart – Hoffnung der Frauen« (Staatstheater Stuttgart), Offenbach’s »La princesse de Trébizonde« (Osterfestspiele Baden-Baden), »Weisse Rose« (Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn), »OTTO« (Theater Rampe/Gare du Nord), »Operncamps – Zauberflöte« (Salzburger Festspiele), »Children of the Sultan« (Dortmund Opera), as well as the German scenic premiere of Donizetti’s »Caterina Cornaro« (Giessen City Theatre) and most recently »Orphée et Euridice« (Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn), the latter two of which were nominated in the magazine »Opernwelt«. Her production of »Weiße Rose« has also been performed in London, Vienna, Oslo and Krakow.
Anna Drescher leads a theatre group with actors with psychiatric experience and develops scenic projects with musicians, working closely with cellist Céline Papion.
