Born in Eschweiler near Aachen, soprano Cecilia Acs received her first musical lessons at home. She first studied church music in Aachen. This was followed by vocal studies at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf with Prof. Ludwig Grabmeier and at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig with Prof. Jeanette Favaro-Reuter. She completed her education with master classes with Krisztina Laki, Matthias Goerne and Grace Bumbry. Prof. Reinhard Becker was her vocal coach for many years. She was a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Scholarship Foundation Düsseldorf as well as the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival in Lübeck.
Since her graduation in 2006, Cecilia Acs has performed as freelance singer and devotes herself especially to the concert field, appearing in song recitals and concert opera performances, which take her all over Europe. She has had a musical collaboration with the University of Cologne for many years, performing Orff’s »Carmina burana« at the Philharmonie in Cologne in 2013, Mozart’s Requiem at the EXPO in Milan in 2015, and Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s »A Midsummer Night’s Dream« at Schloss Wahn in 2016.
She made her Verdi debut in 2017 in the soprano part of the Requiem, in which she was also heard at the Kölner Philharmonie in 2019.
She has worked with pianist Tamara Serikova as a duo since 2014.
Another focus of her activities is music pedagogical work with children and adults, as well as choral voice training.
