Qingzhu Weng was born in China in 2001 and began playing the violin at the age of 4. Since 2014 he has been studying with Prof. Krzysztof Wegrzyn in Hanover, and from 2023 he is an artist in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Brussels in the class of Augustin Dumay.
Qingzhu Weng has won prizes at numerous international competitions such as the Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition, the Bach Competition Leipzig, the Ysaÿe Competition and the Mirecourt Violin Competition. In collaboration with the composer Chia-Chien Chiang, the album »Origin« received a gold medal at the Global Music Awards.
As a soloist, he has performed with numerous orchestras, including the hr-Sinfonieorchester, NDR Radiophilharmonie, Baltische Philharmonie, Südwestdeutsche Kammerorchester Pforzheim, Kammerphilharmonie Frankfurt and Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz, with conductors and musicians such as Andrew Manze, Elias Grandy, Nicolas Krüger, Łukasz Borowicz, Anna Duczmal-Mróz, David Orlowsky and Katarzyna Budnik. He has performed at festivals including the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Imola in Musica and the New Masters on Tour concert series.
Qingzhu Weng currently plays a violin by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini, Parma 1761, on loan from the German Musical Instrument Fund, owned by the Federal Republic of Germany.
