He is also working as a composer and producer.
Winner of a First Prize in Ondes Martenot from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (Jeanne Loriod's class) and holder of a Master's degree in Musicology from the University of Strasbourg, Thomas Bloch has performed more than 3000 concerts in 40 countries, appeared in more than 200 radio and television broadcasts and appears on more than 150 records. Bloch has been professor of Ondes Martenot at the Strasbourg Conservatoire since 1992 and at the Académie Supérieure since 2012. From 2005 to 2011 he was artistic director of the Evian Festival as well as the Glass Music International Festival (Cité de la Musique, Paris) and has also worked on various musicals.
In addition, Bloch has also been responsible for the presentation of his instruments at the Paris Music Museum since its opening (1997). As a soloist of rare instruments, he interprets almost the entire classical and contemporary repertoire composed for them (Messiaen, Varèse, Honegger, Jolivet, Bussotti, Mozart, Donizetti, Hasse, Bach, Beethoven, Richard Strauss...). Around ten new works are created every year, whether in the field of contemporary music (Michel Redolfi, Regis Campo, Etienne Rolin, Bernard Wisson, Jan Erik Mikalsen, among others) or popular music (Jonny Greenwood, Damon Albarn, Tom Waits and many others).
