Tilo Weber (born 1990 in Aachen), discovered jazz as a teenager through his first drum teacher. From 2009 to 2014 he studied drums at the Jazzinstitut Berlin with John Hollenbeck and from 2015 to 2017 composition with Prof. Ruta Paidere in Hamburg.
In 2016, he released his debut album »Animate Repose«, and since 2018 he has been working with the group Four or Five Fauns, with whom he balances combinations of jazz with Renaissance or chamber music. As an active part of Berlin’s jazz scene, Weber unites improvisation with composition and thus moves in free music as well as in the indie pop scene. Collaborations with Greg Cohen, Peter Brötzmann, Rudi Mahall, Chris Dahlgren, Tobias Siebert and the NDR Bigband among others have taken him to national and international festivals of numerous genres. Since 2017, Weber has also been drumming in successful productions by Oliver Reese at the Berliner Ensemble.
Tilo Weber teaches at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre (HfMT).
