The Salzburg-based Javus Quartet consists of violinists Marie-Therese Schwöllinger and Alexandra Moser, violist Marvin Stark and cellist Oscar Hagen. The four young musicians have been playing together in various formations for many years and founded the Javus Quartet in 2016.

They have been greatly influenced in their development by Lukas Hagen, first violinist of the Hagen Quartet. The ensemble is currently studying with Johannes Meissl (Artis Quartet) at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and Gregor Siegl (Artemis Quartet) at the University of the Arts in Berlin, drawing inspiration from working with the world’s leading chamber music professors. These include Eberhard Feltz, Hatto Beyerle, Gerhard Schulz, Valentin Erben, Rainer Schmidt and Thomas Adès.

Their busy concert schedule in Austria and abroad has taken them to renowned concert halls such as the Vienna Musikverein, the Konzerthaus Wien, the Konzerthaus Blaibach, the Mozarteum Foundation Salzburg and music festivals such as Mattseer Diabelli Sommer and Mozartwoche Salzburg.

Their chamber music partners include Valentin Erben of the Alban Berg Quartet, Jean and Agnes Sulem, Matthias Schorn and Pauline Sachse.

The quartet was awarded the Music Prize of the Jürgen Ponto Foundation in 2024, the Hans Gál Prize in 2022, the Musica Juventutis Prize, the Zukunftsklang Award Stuttgart and the Audience Prize of the Irene Steels Wilsing Competition at the Heidelberger Frühling Music Festival in 2020.
