»I very much hope that people will not be deterred from this music and its reputation by any kind of formalities from the past.«
Luisa Neubauer is probably the best-known personality in the German climate movement – and her work goes far beyond simple protest. At the opening concert of Beethovenfest Bonn 2024, she gave a »Speech in E flat Major« and presented Beethoven’s »Cavatina« from String Quartet No. 13 op. 130 as a melodrama together with the Ensemble Resonanz. »Calculated excessive demands« is what she calls it in conversation with artistic director Steven Walter.
How do you combine current crises with the sounds of a bygone era? What potential does Luisa Neubauer see where climate and musical language meet? In this podcast, we learn about all of this, as well as the tasks and possibilities of a democratic civil society and »radical confidence«.
