»A ›Runtrough‹ in theatre jargon is a rehearsal. It means trying out to get through the piece and to see where we stand. In our production, this ›Runtrough‹ is the finished piece, with the specialty that it is always developed further. It is never the same!«
About the production
For her newest production ›Runtrough‹, Rafaële Giovanola invites people from different backgrounds of movement to spend time with her dance company CocoonDance and to share their knowledge. Most recently, the company met up with the Bonn baseball leage team Bonn Capitals. The dancers took part at the training sessions of the baseball players and tried to anticipate their movement patterns and to integrate them into the choreography, their ›Runtrough‹.
»What we would like to feel is the audience being excited with us and, at the end of the show, also being tired like the dancers.«
It is a very physical choreography. The eight dancers have clear assignments during the performance, like in sports, that they have to fulfil during the dance. They are pushed by the music of Franco Mento who improvises live to the choreography.
