The String Archestra was founded in 2016 by scholar and dramaturge Dr Dr Daniele G. Daude to promote works by Black, Indigenous and PoC composers that have been rendered invisible in both the concert repertoire and canonical classical music history. Today, The String Archestra is still the only ensemble in Germany that specialises in works by PoC composers. This gives the ensemble national and international visibility. In 2021, The String Archestra won the TONALi Award in the »Umbruch« (»transformation«) category at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. The String Archestra works with international artists such as Craig Harris (2024), Naomi Kelechi Odhiambo (2023), Ayanna Witter-Johnson (2023), Ghost Poet (2022), Anthony R. Green (2021) and Shannon Sea (2019).
