It presents entertaining music in its entire range: from film music, operettas and chansons to symphonic jazz, crossover and world music programmes to classical favourites and so-called »serious music« as an enriching sound colour in a versatile programme.

The WDR Funkhausorchester opens up new perspectives on the world of orchestral music: its concerts tell stories and convince with coherent and lively concepts. It has the courage to take new and surprising paths – with innovative, imaginative concert programmes and a wide range of music education projects tailored to the respective age group.

The WDR Funkhausorchester cooperates with international soloists and ensembles, but also with other artistic trades such as film, pantomime, visual arts and drama. Speakers and comedians, sometimes even a magician, are part of the programmes. With regular live broadcasts and concert videos on demand, with radio play music productions and its own radio programmes, the orchestra accompanies its audience in everyday life.
