Adele Bitter was a youth student at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main. She received her concert diploma with distinction from Josef Schwab at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. She was a member of the Orchestra Academy of the Berlin State Opera and principal cellist in Karlsruhe before becoming principal cellist with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin in 2001. In addition to appearing as a soloist with orchestra, in Ensemble Modern and in the Adamello Quartet, she completed additional studies in historical performance practice and baroque violoncello at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, playing under Rinaldo Alessandrini, Andrew Manze and Ton Koopman, among others.
