The American pianist Claire Huangci, winner of first prize and the Mozart Prize at the Concours Géza Anda 2018, captivates her audience with »sparkling virtuosity, creative sovereignty, wide-awake interaction and subtle sound dramaturgy« (Salzburger Nachrichten).
Claire Huangci began her international career at the age of nine with concert performances and competition successes. She received important impulses from her teachers Eleanor Sokoloff and Gary Graffman at the renowned Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia before moving to Arie Vardi in Hanover in 2007. She was the youngest participant to win 2nd prize at the 2011 ARD International Music Competition and in 2019 she was awarded the jury prize of the Paris Play-Direct Academy chaired by Lars Vogt.
In solo recitals and as a partner of international orchestras, Claire Huangci has already performed in major concert halls such as Carnegie Hall New York, Suntory Hall Tokyo, the Philharmonie de Paris, the Gasteig Munich, the Gewandhaus Leipzig, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and the Franz Liszt Academy Budapest, as well as at renowned festivals such as the Lucerne Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival and the Ruhr Piano Festival. Conductors such as Elim Chan, Michael Francis, Howard Griffiths, Pietari Inkinen, Jun Märkl, Cornelius Meister, Sir Roger Norrington, Eva Ollikainen, Mario Venzago and Christian Zacharias are among her valued partners.
In addition to her engagements with various national and international orchestras, Claire Huangci will give piano recitals in 2023/24 at the Liszt Festival Raiding, the Casa de Musica Porto, the Auditorio Nacional de Música Madrid and the Prinzregententheater in Munich, among others.
Her extensive discography reflects Claire’s artistic versatility. Her most recent album of Mozart concertos with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg and Howard Griffiths (Alpha Classics) was highly praised by critics. A 3-CD box set with Schubert’s late sonatas, the Three Piano Pieces and a selection of Lieder will be released in autumn 2023.
