After training as a state-certified music school teacher, Daniela Lieb studied orchestral music at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts, graduating with honours. She subsequently passed her concert exam and also completed a course in historical interpretation practice with Prof. M. Schneider and Prof. K. Kaiser. She also studied the soloist class with Barthold Kuijken at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.
Daniela Lieb was a member of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie for two years before taking up a position in the Darmstadt State Theatre Orchestra from 1999 to 2000. For some time now, Daniela Lieb has been playing freelance in concerts and CD productions with renowned orchestras such as the Balthasar Neumann Ensemble, La Stagione and Concerto Köln. She has worked with Gustav Leonhardt, René Jacobs, Philippe Herreweghe, Thomas Hengelbrock and Pablo Heras-Casado. She has been a permanent member of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra since January 2016 and also plays regularly with Concentus Musicus Wien.
In 2004, she was awarded 1st prize in the Lenzewsky Competition for chamber music.
Daniela Lieb taught flute at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences until 2006. Daniela Lieb has been teaching transverse flute at the Freiburg University of Music since 2020 and was appointed professor of transverse flute at the Frankfurt University of Music in 2021.
