Maxime Pidoux, born in Paris in 1994, began his musical career on the piano at the age of 5. Two years later, he took his first percussion lessons at the Conservatoire Hector Berlioz. This was followed by training in marimba, timpani, jazz vibraphone and drumset.
His great urge to discover new ways of playing the drums led Maxime to Munich in 2013, where he studied at the University of Music and Theatre with Prof. Raymond Curfs. He furthered his musical education with the French Youth Orchestra, the Schleswig Holstein Festival Orchestra and the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra under the direction of Dennis Russell Davies, Michael Sanderling, Christoph Eschenbach, Krzysztof Urbanski, Manfred Honeck and Daniel Harding.
From September 2016, Pidoux was a member of the Bavarian State Orchestra’s Orchestra Academy. This was followed by additional professional orchestral experience with the La Scala Orchestra in Milan, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, the Konzerthaus Orchestra Berlin and the NDR Radiophilharmonie. He has worked with conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Kirill Petrenko, Zubin Mehta, Daniel Barenboim, Myung-Whun Chung, Andris Nelsons, Fabio Luisi, Philippe Jordan, Vladimir Jurowski, Klaus Mäkelä, Paavo Järvi and Ivan Fischer.
From 2018 to 2022, Pidoux was engaged as 1st percussionist in the Bavarian State Orchestra. In January 2022, he moved to La Scala in Milan as principal timpanist. He is also a founding member of the percussion quintet OPERcussion.
