Tenor Maximilian Schmitt discovered his love of music at a young age with the Regensburger Domspatzen. He completed his vocal studies with Prof. Anke Eggers at the Universität der Künste Berlin and is artistically mentored by Roland Hermann. In 2012 he made his debut at the Amsterdam Opera as Tamino. This was followed by engagements in Strasbourg, at the Vienna State Opera, at La Scala in Milan and many more.
Schmitt is a regular guest on the major international concert stages. He has been invited by renowned conductors such as Kirill Petrenko, Teodor Currentzis, and Robin Ticciati. He has worked with ensembles like the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. Together with pianist Gerold Huber, he has appeared with various Lied programmes at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and the Wigmore Hall London, among others.
In the upcoming season 2023/24 Schmitt will make his role debut as Siegmund in Die Walküre with Concerto Köln which will also be recorded on CD.
