Description
Piano trios with dark and passionate moods, pierced through again and again by the sun’s rays – Anastasia Kobekina indulges in her joy of chamber music-making with two of her favourite colleagues. A highlight for piano trio fans is Dvořák’s most famous piano trio, named after the Bohemian »Dumka« ballad. With playful freedom, the composer strings together sad laments and cheerful folk dance rhythms. Similarly free and imaginative is the succinct »Trio Élégiaque«, where we can feel the passionate inner life of eighteen-year-old Rachmaninov. The first piece on the programme is contributed by leading Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov, who says about his working method: »I don't write new music. My music is a response to and echo of what already exists.«
