La Petite Écurie is an international five-piece ensemble of baroque oboes (French »hautbois«), Taille, baroque bassoon and period percussion. Hautbois ensembles were extremely popular in the late 17th and 18th centuries. Starting with Louis XIV’s »Grande écurie« at Versailles (France), where most of his wind players were employed, the popular oboe and hautbois bands soon spread throughout the rest of Europe. The result was a versatile wind repertoire that La Petite Écurie cultivates.
Founded in 2018, this exquisite wind ensemble has attracted the interest of audiences and concert organisers alike. To date, La Petite Écurie has performed at the Bachfest Leipzig, the Musikfestspiele Potsdam Sanssouci, the Félix Festival (Philharmonie Köln), the Stockholm Early Music Festival (Sweden), the Urbino Musica Antica Festival (IT), the Barocktage Stift Melk (Austria) and the Valletta Baroque Festival (Malta). The ensemble has also presented its vision and skills to a wide audience on television, radio and in digital formats.
La Petite Écurie was selected as a promising ensemble in 2021 at an event organised by the European Network for Early Music (REMA). Recordings are released on the ARCANA label (Outhere Music) since 2022. Their debut album »The Queen’s Favourites, music at the court of Queen Anne Stuart« was awarded five diapasons. The ensemble’s second album, »No Strings Attached«, was released in 2024.
