Opening Party: Clear the Stage for Beethoven

A festival for everyone with several stages throughout the city. The highlight: At the performance of Beethoven’s Ninth on the main stage on the Münsterplatz, the audience will jointly learn the »Ode to Joy« in sign language.

This year’s Beethovenfest Festival Centre will open with a variety of jazz, choral and chamber music.

In her new work, composer Miriam Berger lets people from Bonn have their say: What values are particularly important to their lives and what do they want for society and themselves?

With Ludwig van Beethoven in mind, eight large orchestras will perform here – from the little »Streichhölzchen« to the German National Youth Orchestra.

12:00 Opening – Ode to join in

Opening with the fourth movement of Beethoven’s ninth symphony for participation in sign language, with the National Youth Orchestra, World Youth Choir, Bonn amateur singers and the Klingende Hände sign language choir from Euskirchen.

14:00 Orchestra meeting

The orchestra of the Ludwig van Beethoven Music School Bonn plays together with youth orchestras from Bonn’s twin cities Potsdam and Opole (Poland). The conductor is Christian Brandenburger from Bonn.

This stage is traditionally home to big bands, jazz, Irish folk and brass bands. The finale is an impressive horn ensemble.

On the stage in front of the Beethoven House, the piano is at the centre of the action.

Choirs, chamber music ensembles, accordion, flute and string ensembles. In the Namen-Jesu-Kirche, the city of Bonn’s music school in particular showcases the diversity of its young artists.

Classical repertoire for piano takes centre stage here, along with string ensembles, classical guitar and an accordion orchestra.

At the former site of Beethoven’s baptistery, classical piano music as well as chamber music by string, wind and accordion ensembles will be performed.
