What’s at stake and can culture save us?
This question is also the focus of the two rounds of our panel discussion. While the participants of the first panel will deal with the aesthetic, social-activist and cultural-political aspects, the second panel will concretely present the situation in Bonn and the efforts of various cultural actors. The art historian Wolfgang Ullrich, who in his recent publication »Die Kunst nach dem Ende ihrer Autonomie« (»Art after the End of its Autonomy«) illuminates the alliance between art and socio-political activism that is currently gaining traction, will address this in a keynote, also with a view to other art forms.
Beethovenfest is striving for certification as a climate-neutral music festival. Together with the renowned Öko-Institut e. V., it will calculate its CO2 footprint and determine possibilities for reducing it. As one of the central cultural institutions in the UN and climate city of Bonn, it is keen to initiate cooperation with other cultural partners and make the ecosystem of the music world more sustainable. The panel discussion will present this process as well as the successful climate-friendly activities of other cultural actors.
Both panels will be moderated by Stephanie Rohde, who works primarily for Deutschlandfunk.
