Olga Scheps was born in Moscow in 1986 to Jewish-Ukrainian parents and came to Germany as a child. From an early age she developed a style of piano playing that combines intense emotion and expressiveness with exceptional pianistic ability. This talent was also discovered by Alfred Brendel, who supported the young Olga Scheps. In 2013 she completed her studies with Prof. Pavel Gililov in Cologne with a concert exam with distinction. She continued her studies with Prof. Arie Vardi and Prof. Dmitri Bashkirov.
Olga Scheps’ repertoire includes not only the great works of the piano literature, but also compositions that are rarely performed on concert stages, including the posthumous Etudes by Frédéric Chopin, »Les Oiseaux exotiques« by Olivier Messiaen and Antonín Dvořák’s Piano Concerto. In September 2023 she performed the world premiere of David Garrett’s Piano Concerto at the Tsinandali Festival.
Her solo recitals are in demand by audiences around the world, as are her appearances as a soloist with orchestra and her chamber music projects. Renowned conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Ivor Bolton, Tugan Sokhiev, Simone Young, Markus Poschner and Pablo Heras-Casado have invited Olga Scheps to work with them. Olga Scheps has performed with renowned orchestras such as the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Russian State Orchestra Moscow, the NDR Radiophilharmonie, the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, the Prague Philharmonia, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra.
A passionate chamber musician, Olga Scheps has performed with artists such as Alban Gerhardt, Daniel Hope, Jan Vogler, Nils Mönkemeyer, the Danish String Quartet and the Kuss Quartet, with whom she recorded Mieczysław Weinberg’s Piano Quintet.
Olga Scheps has been an exclusive Sony Classical artist since 2009. Her debut album »Chopin« immediately won an ECHO Klassik award. The success of her solo album »Vocalise« was surpassed by her album »Satie«, released to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of the French composer: It went straight to number 1 in the German classical charts. She broke new ground with the album »100 % Scooter – Piano Only«, on which she recorded arrangements of the best-known Scooter hits by Sven Helbig. On her album »Family« she combines famous classical works with new piano arrangements of well-known melodies and soundtracks as well as previously unreleased compositions by Christopher von Deylen (aka Schiller) and Chilly Gonzales.
